Team Spotlight: Patricia Biffi

July 1, 2026

Patricia Biffi brings a rich blend of business acumen and global perspective to her role at NetExpat, shaped by her journey from Brazil’s dynamic fashion retail industry to building a new chapter in the United States. With nearly two decades of experience spanning commercial and marketing leadership, she developed a strong foundation in driving growth, building high-performing teams, and keeping people at the center of every decision. Having personally navigated the challenges of relocation and career reinvention, Patricia combines resilience, adaptability, and a people-first mindset with a deep appreciation for cross-cultural experiences and the evolving landscape of global mobility.

Tell us a little bit about your journey before joining NetExpat.

I am Brazilian and have been living in the United States for the past nine years. I graduated from a top business school in Rio de Janeiro and built my career in the fashion retail industry in Brazil, where I spent 18 years across commercial and marketing roles.

Throughout that time, I focused on building efficient processes, developing high-performing teams, coaching talent, and delivering consistent business growth. One of the most important lessons I learned is that people must remain at the center of every discussion. Without engaged and motivated individuals, even the best strategies fail to deliver sustainable results.

Relocating to a new country and restarting my career in a different culture, language, and business environment was one of the most challenging experiences I have faced. I had to demonstrate my capabilities without an established track record in the local market. That required resilience, humility, and a willingness to learn. With the support of professionals who helped me reflect on my purpose and career direction, I transitioned into the global mobility industry, where I could combine my business background with a strong people focus and an international perspective.

What energizes you most about your day-to-day work at NetExpat?

Every day is different. There are always new projects, new challenges, and opportunities to improve how we deliver value to our clients. At NetExpat, there is a strong mindset of ownership. Leaders encourage us to think like business owners and to approach challenges with accountability and creativity.

What motivates me most is the company’s commitment to continuous evolution and learning. I have the opportunity to work with professionals who have more than 20 years of experience in global mobility, and I learn from them every day. At the same time, the organization is results-driven while maintaining a genuine respect for relationships with stakeholders. This balance between performance and people is what makes the environment both inspiring and sustainable.

What do you love most about being part of the NetExpat team or culture?

Working at NetExpat feels like a privilege. The team is truly international, with diverse cultural perspectives, and there is a strong culture of respect, collaboration, and openness. People are willing to share knowledge and also open to learning from others.

Since my first day, when I joined as a consultant nearly two years ago, I felt that NetExpat is a company that genuinely cares about people, both internally and externally. There is a clear intention to make a positive difference in people’s lives.

Transparency is another key differentiator. Processes are clear, communication is open, and there is consistent alignment across teams. This level of transparency, combined with a strong focus on stakeholder experience, is something that is not always common in the market and is one of the reasons I value being part of this organization.

What motivates you in your role, especially when challenges arise?

What motivates me most is the level of collaboration across departments and the ease of communication within the organization. In many companies, lack of information can create uncertainty. At NetExpat, the environment encourages questions, dialogue, and knowledge sharing.

There is an expectation to bring solutions, which drives accountability and growth. At the same time, there is a strong support system that allows you to seek guidance when needed. Teamwork is deeply embedded in the culture, and each professional understands their role and contribution.

This combination of autonomy, support, and transparency creates a space where challenges become opportunities for improvement rather than obstacles.

What do you love most about being part of the NetExpat team or culture?

The people, without question. Knowledgeable, supportive, and refreshingly human. Collaboration feels natural because everyone is aiming for the same outcome, not just their own to‑do list.

There is a strong balance between professionalism and empathy. We take our work seriously, but we never forget that our clients are going through real life changes, not just project milestones.

It is also a genuinely international environment, with different perspectives and a real openness to learning. You get challenged, supported, and trusted, sometimes all in the same conversation.

What motivates you in your role?

Challenges tend to sharpen my focus rather than drain it. When things get complicated, people look for clarity and problem solving, and I enjoy being part of that.

What motivates me most is helping teams navigate tough moments and come out stronger. Watching someone grow in confidence after managing a difficult situation well is incredibly rewarding.

I also believe perspective matters. A bit of humour and the ability to create some distance from the issue helps keep things in proportion. Not every challenge needs to feel heavy to be taken seriously, and staying grounded often leads to better decisions.

Trust plays a big role too. When clients and colleagues rely on you during complex situations, it matters. Working through challenges successfully builds stronger relationships and better outcomes, which makes the effort worthwhile.

The pharmaceutical industry is operating under extraordinary and accelerating pressure. Patent cliffs heightened regulatory scrutiny, geopolitical instability, pricing constraints, and an increasingly complex global R&D and manufacturing footprint are pushing organizations to do more—faster, with fewer resources, and under intense public and stakeholder scrutiny. At the same time, demand for specialized talent has never been higher. Unlike extractive or capital‑intensive industries such as oil and gas, pharma cannot rely on large financial incentives to drive international mobility. Scientific, regulatory, medical affairs, and quality expertise are scarce globally—yet many of the very professionals pharma needs most are reluctant to relocate. Dual‑career households, two‑income families, caregiving responsibilities, and reduced appetite for long assignments mean traditional mobility levers are no longer sufficient. In this context, Global Mobility (GM) is no longer just an enabler of relocation—it must become a strategic talent catalyst.

Whether driven by mergers, digital transformation, geopolitical shifts, or evolving market demands, change affects every corner of a global organization. And without the right support, teams can suffer, along with morale and alignment. Profit losses, decreased productivity, attrition and reputational damage are very real risks, and often signs that an organization’s change strategy failed to account for cultural context—both the organization’s internal culture and the cultural identities of its employees. Change is universal, but how we deal with it is deeply cultural. Even the most well-designed initiative can falter if it overlooks one critical factor: how people experience change. In global teams, that experience isn’t just shaped by roles, responsibilities, and team dynamics. It’s also shaped by the cultural norms, values, and perspectives each person brings to the workplace. And when leaders assume their teams will respond to change the same way they do, communications and processes can quietly unravel—sometimes under the radar and long before the negative impacts are fully recognized. To lead and address change effectively, business leaders need to understand the cultural lenses that shape how change is perceived, processed, and embraced (or rejected).
